Where's the login button?

From the beginning, we built WingSIM with a single purpose in mind: to make it as easy as possible to buy and use an eSIM, regardless of your technical ability.

When you’re travelling, the last thing you need is yet more admin: another account to create, another password to remember.

That’s why we made an early, but critical, decision: we shouldn’t require an account, or an app, to interact with any part of the WingMDM purchase flow.

We might add one in the future, to enable some benefits - but we’ll never require either of these to use any of the critical features.

That applies at all levels, whether it’s making a purchase, getting receipts, topping up emails or contacting support. All of that has to work without an app or an account.

But why did we do this, and why should you care?

Reducing friction

What’s one less step than creating an account or logging in? Not having to do so.

We have (and continue to) comb every step of the purchase process to make it as seamless as possible.

That means constantly questioning our assumptions: are we doing something because it benefits our customers, because we think it ‘should’ be done that way? Can we achieve that goal a different way?

Keeping your data safe

It seems like every other day, another company has a massive data leak or hack that puts their customers at risk.

And it’s almost always the customers that end up losing: leaked passwords, personal information, or purchase habits can be used against them.

A good security posture is important, and we take every measure we can to secure the data we store. But a lot of companies forget an important principle: the best way to not leak your customers’ data is to not store it in the first place.

We store the minimum information we need to provide our service to you and to comply with regulations. Anything beyond that is a liability, and we don’t want anywhere near us.

We’re in the business of selling products to you, not selling your data to third parties or trying to scrape your data to benefit us.

Does that mean you have fewer features?

Because we’ve built the service from the ground around this idea, we’ve been able to design everything to match that constraint.

Once you make a purchase (handled by our payment provider so we never see your card details), we link that purchase to the email address you provided. We’ll use this to send you an email with your invoice and an email with your installation details.

That email contains a unique link that only you can access, which you can use to the eSIM state, how much data you’ve used, top up the same eSIM with a new package. The only way to find the link is from your email, so only you can access it. You can even share the link with someone else, for example if you bought a pack of eSIMs for your family.

If you ever lose or delete the email and need to access it again, you can just contact support and we’ll re-send you the email to the same address.

Our support system works on the same principle - you can either contact us through the form, and we’ll use the email from the relevant purchase to make sure we’re talking to the right person. Or you can email us directly and we’ll use your sender email to match up your purchases.

Demand fewer accounts

Some products do inherently require an account. For others, making you log in is a way of trying to increase retention. We’re fortunate that this is a space where we can provide a service without making you sign up.

If you’re about to purchase something and they suddenly make you create an account last minute, consider: is it really a requirement to provide you the service? Are there competitors that don’t require it?

Similarly, if you find any features our competitors have that we don’t, let us know - we’ll do our best to design it into our framework.
